Western Community Energy, LLC
(“WCE”) develops community scale renewable energy projects, chiefly wind energy
projects, for private landowners, cities, counties, schools, municipal/public
utility districts, tribes, and small businesses.
WCE's turn-key project development sizes currently range from 50-kilowatts (“kW”)
to as large as 40-megawatts (“MW”) and are structured so that local owners can
realize significant economic value from the projects.
WCE also works with landowners on much larger (100+ MW) projects through pre-development and lease negotiation services.
WCE focuses a large majority of
its marketing efforts within rural America because we strongly believe that small, locally-owned
renewable energy projects have the ability to improve, maintain, and enable the
rural way of life. Subsequently, WCE is seeking to be the premier US supplier of turn-key
solutions for locally-owned renewable energy projects.
As the wind energy industry
continues its sustained annual 20+% growth rate, the vast majority of national
wind developers are focused on private equity projects typically in excess of
100 MW. The drawback of this national
trend to large-scale renewable energy projects is that small, locally-owned
projects have been either priced out of the marketplace (due to low economies
of scale) or forgotten (due to the myopic focus on large-scale
development). WCE has sought to serve
this forgotten industry niche through focused products and services tailored to
small-scale projects.
